CyberTek Engineering is pleased to provide our Storage, Transport and Replication Services (STARS) to our customers throughout Southern Indiana. Cybertek maintains a secured storage facility for your corporate business data. When you become a STARS customer an encrypted customer account is created for you. All data is encrypted and only accessible with the encryption key provided to you. The electronic vault system is set up so that your computer automatically prepares its data for backup transmission. This data replication occurs in the middle of the night. The STARS software determines which files have been modified since the last backup, compresses them, and encrypts them for security. When the data is ready the computer uses its Internet Connection to contact a STARS storage server and transmit the encrypted data. Our STARS software verifies data transport and stores the encrypted data files.

Q: What if we already have a tape backup system?
Using a tape backup system and an off-site backup system offers the best of both worlds. Critical files, like billing, customer contact files and databases can be kept remotely. While, the tape system can be used to create a full backup of the entire system once or twice a month, instead of on a daily basis. The tapes and drive will last longer and require less maintenance. The remote system can provide a quick and easy way to retrieve critical files and databases without the hassle of searching through tapes.

Q: How Secure Are Backups By S.T.A.R.S?
All files are encrypted using Blowfish or DES encryption which is selected by the user with their own personal encryption code which is only known by the user of the system. Blowfish encryption has never been broken by a hacker. DES is used by the federal banking system.
